What’s the method for transferring money overseas?
At the stores window of a nationwide Daikokuya store partnered with Western Union, just fill out the money transfer information. After a few minutes, (see ※1) for receiving countries around the world, (see ※2) for the 400,000 locations and(see ※3) for handling stores where the money can be received.
Fill in the money transfer request form at your nearest participating store and submit your personal ID (see ※4).

Please pay the amount to be transferred (in Japanese yen) and the handling charge (see ※5).
You will be given a copy of the money transfer request form. The Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN) will be registered, so if you use the MTCN, you can check the money transfer status.
Please contact the recipient of the money transfer and give them the name of the sender, the amount of money sent, the Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN) and the necessary information regarding the country of origin. Please do not tell the money transfer information to anyone but the recipient.
On the Western Union website’s homepage, please click on “Track a Transfer”. Enter the sender’s name and the Money Transfer Control Number and you can check the status of the money transfer.
※1: Depending on the amount of money being transferred, the receiving country, currency inventory, various regulations and foreign exchange, procedures deemed necessary for the recipient, important points regarding personal identification, opening times of cooperating stores, time difference, choosing the option to delay the transfer and various other conditions, or if the money is delayed, there may be cases where it is not possible to make use of the service. Western Union is involved with currency exchange, so there are cases where some marginal profits are made from foreign money orders. Also, there are cases where restrictions apply. ※2: Depending on the region of the store where payment was made, opening hours and handling conditions, it is possible to receive the money. For more details, please check the restrictions described on the money transfer form.
※3: There are some countries from which money cannot be transferred. In these cases, money can only be received. As of 31st December 2010.

※5: This applies to money transfers between individuals. Western Union’s exchange rates include marginal profit on currency exchange. If the money is to be received in a foreign country, there may be cases where that country’s taxes are imposed.
How do I receive money sent from overseas?
The method for receiving money transferred from overseas is simple!
Head to the stores window of any nationwide Western Union partnered Daikokuya store.
At your nearest Western Union partnered Daikokuya store, on the money transfer request form in the recipient column, please fill in the name of the sender, the transfer’s country of origin, the amount transferred, and the Money Transfer Control Number.
Please submit the completed money transfer request form along with your personal ID(see*1) at the stores window.
Once you have checked the money transfer contents and the money transfer receipt, you will be given the money and the recipient’s copy of the money transfer form, there and then.

Procedure for submitting the money transfer request form

Please make sure that you read the agreement and then, on page 1 and 2 of the “Money Transfer Request Form”, fill in all the necessary details in the money transfer column. Please make sure that page 1 and 2 have the same information, accurately filled in. (Page 1: the handling store’s copy. Page 2: the customer’s copy. Page 3: the agreement)
Please take the completed “Money Transfer Request Form” including page 3, the amount of money to be transferred, the handling fee and your personal ID to the nearest Western Union participating store.
